Tiffany Wai-Ying Beres
Tiffany Wai-Ying Beres is a curator and art historian who is based in Southern California. She is interested in the transnational flows of visual culture that characterize the global art world and the ways that technology can facilitate cultural exchange. Specializing in both ancient and contemporary Asian art, her scholarly research explores the interpretation and reconceptualization of antiquity in contemporary contexts. Her practice is dedicated to highlighting overlooked narratives and to rethinking curatorial practice in order to facilitate critical dialogues, build communities, and make art more accessible.
Beres has curated more than 30 exhibition projects for museums and institutions around the world such as the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, the Hong Kong University Museum and Art Gallery, the Pagoda Paris in France, the Today Art Museum in Beijing, and more.
Previously, Beres was based in Beijing, where she worked with artists and published extensively about topics in Asian contemporary art for publications such as Orientations, The Asian Art Newspaper, Art AsiaPacific, and the Wall Street Journal.
