Angie Jennings, The Sea is Coming, 2019, chalk pastel on paper, 18 x 24 in.
Angie Jennings is an interdisciplinary artist who investigates hierarchical constructs of circumstance, often employing strategies of subversion, satire and obfuscation. Identity, isolation and the formation of new mythologies are notions heavily imbued within her work. Jennings aims for the uncanny through processes of edging up next to commanding yet unassuming modes of exploitation and exaggeration. The performativity of both body and materials are expanded through sacred realms of otherness.
Recent awards, performances, and exhibitions include: Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; Wagnall Museum of Contemporary Art; Woman’s Caucus for the Arts; No Gallery; Abode Gallery; Human Resources; Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson; Joan Mitchell Foundation Emerging Artist Grant Nominee; NADA NY; Galerie Christine Myer; LAST Projects; OCHI PROJECTS; and Commonwealth and Council.

Joe Yorty, Figures in a landscape, 2018, found pottery, MDF, Formica, acrylic, fluorescent lights, houseplants
Joe Yorty is an interdisciplinary artist who employs a range of materials, objects, and methods to make work that largely addresses the anxieties and absurdities of American domestic culture. Including sculpture, collage, video, and photography, his studio practice grapples with the stuff of thrift store refuse, last-minute estate sale deals, and the occasional dumpster dive to rub against the pathos of the ceaseless search for fulfillment in the accumulation of things that, to a large extent, defines the American experience in the 21st century. His work has been shown on both coasts of the United States and some places in between. He is the founding Creative Director for the not-for-profit gallery and project space BEST PRACTICE in San Diego.
An essay on Yorty’s work will be published by HereIn in April.
