Anira Abreu (She/They) was born in Brooklyn, New York circa 1990. She now lives in San Diego, California and works at MCASD La Jolla in Visitor Engagement. Influenced by magical realism, novellas, historical fiction, and poetry, Anira's writing is a linguistic medium to share little worlds with all walks of life. Interviews with family members inspire her writing, creating a pathway to travel without moving. An important connection is formed when articulating this history with her imaginative reflection of her American life experience within the context of her immigrant ancestors. Her works explore how time and place are interconnected and everlasting; this ideation incites their personal structure in the abundance of hope. She is currently exploring ideas of creative accessibility and sensory exploration through tactile poetry in her studio.
