[Image description: Color photograph of Jennings looking at the camera with a subtle smile. Her eyes are dark brown and reflect the white flash of the camera. She stands in front of the corner's edge of a closed white sliding door that includes white painted wood molding, and frosted white plexiglass which rests towards the top of the door. Jennings is African American, in this photograph her hair is black/brown, voluminous, curly and windswept touching her left shoulder. She is wearing a silk black button up shirt with a v-neck opening, long sleeves and shoulder pads. Next to her left arm there is part of a plastic yellow-toned wolf mask that has brown hair and the top corner surface of a black printer. There is also a tiny part of a fishing pole that rests in the corner of the wall behind the mask, and further to the left of the wall is the side of a golden picture frame that's cropped by the edge of the photograph.]

Angie Jennings (b. 1984) is an interdisciplinary artist who investigates hierarchical constructs of circumstance, often employing strategies of subversion, satire and obfuscation. Identity, isolation and the formation of new mythologies are notions heavily imbued within her work. Jennings aims for the uncanny through processes of edging up next to commanding yet unassuming modes of exploitation and exaggeration. The performativity of both body and materials are expanded through sacred realms of otherness. Recent awards, performances, and exhibitions include: Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, Wagnall Museum of Contemporary Art, Woman’s Caucus for the Arts, No Gallery, Abode Gallery, Human Resources, Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson, Joan Mitchell Foundation Emerging Artist Grant Nominee, NADA NY, Galerie Christine Myer, LAST Projects, OCHI PROJECTS, and Commonwealth and Council. Jennings is a former student of Performance Art 101 taught by Kembra Pfahler, has attended La Pocha Nostra Summer School, and The Abramovic Method Workshop. Jennings received her MFA from the University of California San Diego, and a BS from South Dakota State University. Jennings has held lecture positions at National University and the University of California San Diego.
